Trip Philosophy – there are a lot of reasons to off-road in wild Colorado. For our trip, it will be to experience the rough and tumble of the Colorado backcountry. The route will go through many turn-of-the century mining operations and ghost towns. The trip route was selected with this in mind.
Part of the wild Colorado experience with be to live simply and to “rough it”. This translates to dig holes to go to the bathroom, drinking purified stream water and staying in primitive camping areas. Remember there will be no electric, no cell coverage, no internet, no running water and no toilets. It will be important that you be prepared and ready to be self-sufficient.
A typical day on the trail starts early with the team hitting the trail by 7:00-8:00 AM. We will stop for lunch along the trail about mid-day and end our travels between 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. In a normal 8-10 hour day, we travel about 30 to 50 miles.
